Track 11: Cardiac Remodeling or Ventricular Remodeling

Cardiac Remodeling or Ventricular remodeling is generally accepted as a determinant of the clinical course of heart failure (HF). This includes expertise in the central nervous system that controls appetite and energy expenditure, pancreas function, and adipose tissue function. Our investigators utilize a broad array of research tools including non-invasive imaging, complex whole animal studies on physiology and behaviour, and in vitro and ex vivo techniques.

Even though we are a small division at this time, currently consisting of 5 core scientists and 4 staff scientists, we have over $7 million (direct costs) of funding active during 2012-2013, with 70% coming from NIH and the rest from industry collaborations. Furthermore, our external collaborators have almost $2.5 million in support during that time directly related to research using our Obese NHP Resource.
